Underground Dog Fence

Underground Dog Fence

Some people have the impression that an underground dog fence is inhumane for the dog, but with some training lessons your pup should be all but happy to stay within the yard. It's a fact that in some areas you can just not have a large fence installed to keep your dog from running into the street. It may be because of the neighborhood association's rules, your property may not be large enough, or you just can't bring yourself to cover up the view of the rest of the neighborhood. Whatever the reason, an invisible dog fence is your only answer.

Dogs want to run and play, and often want to leave the confines of your backyard. This is just their nature. Unfortunately, their nature could get them seriously injured if they happen to run out into the street in front of an oncoming car. They could also run out of the yard and get lost. There are a hundred different things that could happen to your dog if it accidentally got loose, and without a fence you are at risk of that.

An underground dog fence is something you will have to train your dog to avoid in order to work effectively, but once he or she has gotten used to it the fence will work like a charm. The fence is set up via an electric wire run under the boundaries of your yard with a collar for your dog to wear that receives the electricity. When the collar comes near the wire, a shock is sent to the dog and they can not pass. This could give them a huge surprise, but it is not something that will hurt them for any extended period of time. Choke collars have the same short-term effect when used properly and it can be easy to train your dog not to leave the year or get near the underground electric fence.

These fences are also cheaper to have installed than traditional yard fences, which can run you into the upper hundreds to thousands fairly easily. Underground fences only cost a few hundred dollars and there is barely any labor needed to get them set up.

Keeping your pet should be your first priority. These fences are completely safe, and if you properly train your pup they will be completely happy with staying inside the yard and completely avoiding the electrically charged area. All in all, it is a much better alternative to tying them around a tree and it is more open and appealing to have your yard open for passerby to see in and for you to see out. An underground dog fence is humane as long as you train your dog.
